SMERemediumCap (SMERC) has invested €22 million to establish Plakentia Group, Greece’s first organized nationwide network of modern veterinary clinics and the largest such network in the Balkans.
Built through strategic acquisitions and the development of new facilities, Plakentia Group now operates nine veterinary units across Attica, Thessaloniki, Volos and the Cyclades, including the country’s largest veterinary diagnostic laboratory. With 24/7/365 operations, 200 hospitalization beds, 130 veterinarians, 10 operating theatres and intensive care units, the network provides comprehensive veterinary care supported by advanced diagnostic and therapeutic
technologies, including CT and MRI scanners and state-of- the-art laboratory equipment.
A significant part of the investment has focused on upgrading infrastructure, technology and medical expertise, enabling the treatment of complex cases to international standards. The Group also places strong emphasis on education, professional development and collaboration with universities and international organizations.
With an estimated turnover approaching €12 million in 2026, Plakentia Group aims to redefine the standards of veterinary care in Greece and contribute to the long-term development of the sector.
