A new Mars Pet-Friendly Advantage (PFA) report reveals that pet-friendly workplace policies are becoming an increasingly important factor in employees’ professional choices, with Greek workers showing particularly strong support.
Conducted by Censuswide among 16,000 employees across 16 European countries, the research highlights the growing influence of pets on workplace culture, employee wellbeing and talent attraction. Across Europe, 36% of employees place greater importance on pet-friendly policies than on traditional workplace benefits, while 81% believe that having pets around creates a more enjoyable and relaxed working environment.
Greece stands out, with 64% of employees saying they would seriously consider changing jobs if they could bring their pet to work, significantly above the European average of 55%. Furthermore, 73% of employees without a pet say supportive workplace policies would encourage them to get one in the future.
The wellbeing benefits are also clear: 87% of Greek respondents believe pets contribute to a calmer workplace atmosphere, while 83% say they can help reduce stress during the working day. Meanwhile, 77% consider it important for employers to clearly communicate pet-friendly policies in job advertisements.
The findings also point to younger generations, particularly Gen Z and Millennials, as key drivers of this shift towards a more progressive, inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
